The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has constituted a national vetting committee under the chairmanship of former Sanitation Minister Cecilia Abena Dapaah to screen aspirants ahead of its upcoming national executive elections.

Nominations are scheduled to open from Monday, 17 August to Thursday, 20 August, with the vetting exercise slated to take place between 31 August and 3 September.

The final list of cleared candidates will subsequently be published on 5 September.

According to the party leadership, aggrieved aspirants will have an opportunity to file appeals up until 14 September, after which the official notice of poll will be issued.

Briefing media personnel, the Chairman of the party’s Election Committee, Frederick Opare Ansah, outlined that these measures are designed to ensure a seamless process leading up to the main election on 3 October.

“The committee has established a National Vetting Committee chaired by Cecilia Abena Dapaah. The other members are Papa Owusu-Ankomah, Salifu Said, Ambassador Baffour Adjei Bawuah, Elizabeth Ohene, Osei Prempeh, Joyce Opoku Boateng, and Arnold Boateng, with Evans Nimako serving as the secretary to the Vetting Committee,” he said.

In a related development, the party has announced the pricing structure for nomination forms across various executive roles. Prospective candidates aiming for the National Chairman position are required to pay GH¢50,000, whilst those contesting for the First Vice Chairperson and General Secretary portfolios will pay GH¢30,000 and GH¢25,000 respectively.

Forms for all other national positions have been priced at GH¢10,000. However, a concessionary rate of GH¢8,000 has been set for aspirants seeking leadership roles within special wings, including the Youth, Women’s, and Nasara wings.
