NDC executive roles are a sacrificial duty, not paid positions – Mahdi Gibril

August 17, 2026
Mahdi-Gibril

Serving in an executive capacity within the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is purely a sacrificial duty that carries no monetary benefits, the party’s Director of Elections and ICT, Mahdi Gibril, has stated.

He revealed that the NDC does not pay monthly salaries, allowances, or any form of financial perks to those who serve in executive positions. Consequently, he underscored the need for individuals seeking party offices to be guided by a spirit of volunteerism.

Mr Gibril made these remarks in response to a inquiry from a listener on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, who had asked what candidates stand to gain from contesting and winning executive positions within the party.

Clarifying the nature of party service, he noted that while executive work requires selfless dedication, the NDC does not forget those who dedicate their time and effort to its cause.

“Working for the party is purely a sacrifice. We have all dedicated ourselves to serve the party. We are not paid monthly salaries or allowances. It is a sacrificial job. We must understand this philosophy. We don’t pay anyone. We believe that through the policies of the party when in office, it will have significant effects on the party executives, their families, and Ghanaians in general. So sacrificing for the party is something positive the executives must appreciate because their contribution is to the national interest and the party,” he explained.

He further stressed that party executives are not left out when opportunities arise once the party assumes governance.

According to him, rewarding and motivating members who have sacrificed for the party is essential, as failing to do so would demotivate them from offering similar sacrifices in the future.
