The National Media Commission has appointed members to the governing boards of public corporations managing state-owned media organisations across the country, following consultations with President John Dramani Mahama.
The appointments, made in accordance with Article 168 of the Constitution and the National Media Commission Act of 1993 (Act 449), cover the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Graphic Communications Group Limited, the Ghana News Agency, and the New Times Corporation.
Under the new reconstitutions, Francis Mills Robertson heads the board of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation as Chairman, working alongside Madam Bashiratu Kamal, Dr Ahmed Dawale Mohammed, Dr Jacob Ibrahim Abudu, Madam Hawa Muhammad Awwal, Mr Nathaniel Leslie Lomo-Mainoo, Mr Emmanuel Kumadey, Dr Abena Animwaa Yeboah-Banin, and the Director General.
At the Graphic Communications Group Limited, Professor Samuel Kwaku Hayford takes over as Chairman. Other members serving on the board include Mr Emmanuel Osei Ofosu, Mr Richard Asamoah-Mensah, Frederic Kofi Rockson, Dr Camynta Baezie, Mr Elvis Aaron Amenyitor, Mr Bernard Owusu, Dr Rufai Kilu Haruna, and the Managing Director.
The Ghana News Agency board will be chaired by Dr Kwame Akuffo Anoff-Ntow. He is joined by Madam Mercy Catherine Adjabeng, Mr Francis Dadzie Jnr, Prof. Adwoa Sikayena Amankwah, Dr Moshie-Dayan Ahiamenyo, Mr Vance Azu, Mr Alexander Nii Katey Bannerman, and the General Manager.
Meanwhile, Dr Charity Binka has been named Chairperson for the New Times Corporation. The rest of the governing board comprises Madam Theresa Owusu Ako, Eric Nyarko-Aboagye, Mr Donald Gwira, Very Rev. Helena Amma Serwah Opoku-Sarkodie, Naana Aklerh Amenyah Kubi I, Mr Kojo Tito Voegborlo Esq, Dr Timothy S.K. Quashigah, and the Managing Director.
The announcement was officially issued and signed by the Acting Executive Secretary of the Commission, Paula Sanza Sanziri.
