The Ministry of Health has given health professionals who recently applied for postings until August 31 to report to their assigned facilities across the country.
In a statement issued by spokesperson Tony Goodman, the Ministry confirmed that this extension serves as the final notice for all affected personnel. Those who fail to assume duty by the deadline without an approved, justifiable reason will be removed from the recruitment system and replaced during a mop-up exercise scheduled for the first week of September.
Addressing misinformation surrounding the recruitment process, the Ministry clarified the statutory steps required before salary payments begin. Financial clearance is first secured from the Ministry of Finance before the recruitment portal opens. Following district interviews, successful candidates accept their postings and physically report to their designated facilities.
Once an applicant assumes duty, the facility submits confirmation to the Ghana Health Service, the Christian Health Association of Ghana, or other relevant agencies. An official appointment letter is then generated to begin salary input, which is ultimately validated by the facility and disbursed by the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department.
The Ministry emphasized that strictly enforcing these procedures prevents payment for work not done and eliminates ghost names from the public payroll. Several professionals who reported promptly have already completed their mechanization and received their salaries.
Human Resource Directors and agency managers have been directed to expedite outstanding files and utilize the September data entry window to mechanize all eligible staff currently at post. All affected health workers are urged to take advantage of the grace period to avoid forfeiting their appointments.
