The government has resolved the widespread food supply disruptions that previously plagued several Senior High Schools across the nation.

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang revealed that sustainable measures, including a ring-fenced financing mechanism for school catering under the Free SHS initiative, have been established to prevent future shortages.

“We all know about the free SHS and some of the challenges we had. I don’t know the last time you heard that the schools don’t have food. Did anybody hear that? So the problems have disappeared because we have created a dedicated funding for it,” the Vice President said.

Addressing the Ghanaian diaspora in Kigali, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated that the administration is systematically resolving the operational hurdles hindering the Free SHS programme.

She noted that alongside stabilizing food supplies, the government is concurrently supplying essential educational materials and training gear to enhance academic performance.

“We are trying to remove the problems one by one as we go forward… and at the same time ensuring that you are getting them the equipment they need to study – the science equipment, vocational, whatever equipment they need to study and study well, that’s important,” she added.

Her remarks follow prolonged public anxiety regarding severe food supply deficits in secondary institutions, which authorities confirm have now been stabilized through robust financial structures.
