President Mahama dissolves Boards of nine State Institutions

President John Dramani Mahama has, with immediate effect, dissolved the governing boards of nine key public institutions across the energy, financial, housing, and sports sectors.

The decision was announced in an official release issued by the Presidency on Wednesday, September 2, 2026. The affected state entities include the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company Limited (BOST), Consolidated Bank Ghana Limited (CBG), and the Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO).

Other state bodies impacted by the executive action are Prestea Sankofa Gold Limited, Ghana Post Company Limited, TDC Ghana Limited, the Road Maintenance Trust Fund, and the National Sports Authority.

Addressing the execution of the decision, Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, stated that the relevant portfolio heads have been instructed to facilitate a smooth administrative transition.

“Relevant sector Ministers have been directed to take all necessary steps, in accordance with the applicable laws and governing instruments, to give effect to the dissolution of these Boards,” Kwakye Ofosu indicated.

The statement further assured the public that fresh leadership would be appointed to head the respective institutions, noting that “the affected Boards will be reconstituted in due course.”
