Police have rounded up at least ten students following violent reprisal attacks between Okuapeman Senior High School and Mount Sinai Senior High School in the Akuapem North Municipality.
The early Wednesday morning clashes resulted in six Okuapeman SHS students suffering injuries, alongside significant property damage as fires gutted facilities on both campuses. According to school authorities, four victims have been treated and discharged, whilst two remain under medical observation.
Speaking to journalists, Eastern Regional Police Commander DCOP Joseph Owusu-Bempah confirmed the arrests and noted that law enforcement is compiling a master list of all suspects involved, including those who fled when officers arrived.
“We have apprehended them. And there are more,” he said.
Investigators are also probing reports that staff members instated the violence. DCOP Owusu-Bempah issued a stern warning that any educators implicated would face immediate prosecution and public exposure.
“We have the names of the teachers. They have nowhere to go. At the appropriate time, we will arrest all of them, and their names will be published,” DCOP Owusu-Bempah warned.
Authorities have urged students to return to class and cooperate with detectives while warning against any attempt to impede the ongoing investigation. The precise trigger for the violent outbreak remains under investigation.
