The Ministry of Finance has confirmed the full payment of outstanding salary arrears owed to 6,300 newly posted staff of the Ghana Education Service (GES), bringing a conclusion to long-standing concerns over unpaid remuneration.
The clarification follows recent appeals made by the Coalition of Unpaid Newly Posted Staff of the Ghana Education Service regarding delayed payments.
According to the Ministry, the staff in question were recruited in 2024 without prior financial clearance before being inherited by the government in 2025.
To resolve the impasse, the Ministry secured Cabinet approval to issue the necessary financial clearance, allowing the arrears to be disbursed across four distinct tranches.
In a press release issued by its Public Relations Unit, the Ministry verified that all 6,300 personnel covered under the agreed framework have received their complete financial entitlements.
The Ministry further clarified that it currently holds no pending requests for financial clearance from the Ghana Education Service. It indicated that any individual staff member who continues to experience unresolved salary or arrears issues should directly approach the administrative and payroll units of the GES for assistance.
