Two persons are in police custody following their arrest at Dawhenya in the Prampram Division with 692 parcels of suspected Indian hemp.
The suspects, driver Godwin Asigeh and his assistant Freeman Amedoku, were intercepted by officers from the Tema Regional Police Command during a snap-check operation.
Police intercepted the Accra-bound Ford Transit vehicle, bearing registration number GT 6140-22, at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
A search conducted on the vehicle revealed the illicit substance wrapped in yellow polythene bags.
The suspects, the impounded vehicle, and the seized parcels were subsequently conveyed to the Devtraco Police Station.
The substance has been retained as an exhibit while investigations continue.
The Tema Regional Police Command commended the arresting officers for their operational vigilance and reassured the public of intensified efforts to curb the trafficking and distribution of narcotic substances across the region.
