At the Zongo Chiefs Conference in Accra, held under the theme “The Zongo Development Agenda,” traditional and government leaders urged strong collaboration to transform Zongo communities.
Ga Mantse, King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, advocated for close cooperation between traditional authorities and Zongo leaders.
He stressed that Zongo communities must maintain their identity and leadership structures while respecting the local customary framework.
To prevent conflict, the King called for open communication, education, and dialogue, emphasizing that authority should foster unity rather than division to build a solid foundation for local growth.
Addressing infrastructure needs, the Minister for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, Mahama Ayariga, highlighted the necessity of upgrading housing, sanitation, and access routes.
He noted that poor urban conditions stem from historical social and economic inequalities.
Mahama Ayariga assured that redevelopment can resolve these infrastructure deficits in place, improving living standards without displacing residents.
Citing his long-standing work with these neighborhoods, he pledged to use his office to advance Zongo development through joint state and community efforts.
