The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has directed all internal structures to maintain the status quo regarding the election of the “Other Youth” position across constituencies, clarifying that any transition to a second Deputy Youth Organiser remains subject to final approval by Congress.
In an official press statement released by the party’s National Secretariat on 12th September 2026, the party leadership outlined the regulatory framework governing the upcoming constituency-level elections.
Signed by the General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the directive confirms that while the National Executive Committee (NEC) proposed elevating the role to a full executive seat, the existing arrangements stay unchanged until formal ratification occurs.
“Congress may subsequently decide on the ratification of the NEC’s decision to designate the Other Youth as a second Deputy Youth Organiser, resulting in two Constituency Deputy Youth Organisers,” the statement noted.
The secretariat further explained that once Congress grants its approval, the affected officer will fully assume the duties and entitlements of the position.
“Upon ratification, that officer shall enjoy all rights and privileges accruing to the position,” Mr Kwetey stated.
The party executive instructed all electoral officers and regional bodies to strictly adhere to the guidelines during the conduct of all internal polling processes.
“All party structures, officers, and members are to take note of this directive and ensure strict compliance in conducting all Party elections,” the statement added.
Expressing confidence in the cooperation of its membership, the NDC leadership reiterated its commitment to managing a fair, open, and reliable internal democratic process as constituency elections proceed.
“The Party counts on the cooperation of all party members and the general public to ensure a transparent, orderly and credible electoral process,” the General Secretary concluded.
