The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially opened applications for eligible non-teaching staff seeking promotion to various upper grades across the service.

According to a memorandum issued from the GES Headquarters in Accra and signed by the Deputy Director-General in charge of Management Services, Prof. Smile Dzisi, the promotion exercise targets qualified serving personnel in several professional classes.

The affected cadres include the Accounting Class, Internal Audit Class, Non-Accounting Administrative Class, Catering Class, Technical Class, Librarian Class, Supply Class, Laboratory Technician Class, Secretarial Class, and Driver Class.

To qualify for consideration, applicants must have been promoted to their current grades in or before 2022 and maintained continuous service since that date, excluding periods of officially approved absence. Candidates are also required to demonstrate a satisfactory work history and good conduct within the service.

The management outlined specific guidelines for personnel relying on postgraduate qualifications to access early interview opportunities.

“For the avoidance of doubt, applicants who wish to rely on Masters/Doctorate degrees to join the interviews out of turn should note that the Masters/PhD program should be on the approved Ghana Education Service course of study,” the statement read.

The service further clarified that such higher degrees must not have been obtained prior to an applicant’s previous promotion, and candidates must have secured their certificates in or before 2023.

All applications must be submitted online through the dedicated portal or by scanning the designated QR code, alongside an uploaded recent passport-sized photograph.

Applicants are required to upload only their latest promotion, upgrading, or appointment letter, as well as their postgraduate degree certificate where applicable. The service specified that all supporting documents must be clear, readable, and uploaded strictly in PDF format, except for the passport picture.

The online application portal opens on Monday, 14th September 2026, and will close on 28th September 2026. Management has urged all eligible staff to comply strictly with the guidelines to ensure a smooth process.
