The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) has released the 2023 Capitation Grant arrears to District Education Directorates across the country for onward disbursement to basic schools.
In a official directive issued on 14th September 2026, the GES confirmed that the funds have been transferred into the respective district accounts to facilitate smooth administrative and academic operations.
The letter, signed by Deputy Director-General in charge of Management Services, Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), instructed Regional Directors to oversee the prompt distribution of the money to ensure beneficiary schools receive their allocations without delay.
“Management of Ghana Education Service wishes to inform you that Capitation Grant arrears for 2023 has been transferred to the various accounts of the District Education Directorates for onward disbursement to the schools,” the directive stated.
The Service explained that the funds transferred to district accounts include allocations for Sports and Culture meant for District Offices. Corresponding Regional Sports and Culture components have also been credited directly to designated Regional office accounts.
To ensure seamless administrative operations ahead of the upcoming academic term, the Service directed Regional Directors to fast-track the transfer process.
“Regional Directors are therefore by this letter, requested to ensure that the funds are transferred to the schools on or before the reopening of the 1st term 2026/2027 academic year to enable Heads of Basic Schools operate seamlessly,” the letter instructed.
The GES further announced that a delegation from headquarters will conduct field monitoring visits to verify full compliance and ensure the funds reach basic schools directly.
“Kindly take note that a team from the Headquarters will be going to the regions for monitoring so please ensure that the funds are transferred to the schools immediately,” the statement added.
