Police in the Oti Region have intercepted an articulator truck packed with 5,164 compressed parcels of suspected narcotic substances.
The operation, carried out by the Oti Regional Police Command on 14 September 2026, followed targeted intelligence regarding a DAF truck, registration number GE 3906-15, which was suspected of transporting illegal drugs in hidden compartments.
Officers searched the vehicle and uncovered 5,164 compressed round parcels concealed within secret sections of the truck.
Three men were arrested at the scene: drivers Abdul Razak Adamu, 35, and Aliu Adamu, 33, alongside 33-year-old mechanic Jubril Amidu. A fourth occupant, identified as Adamu Iddi, evaded arrest and remains at large.
The three suspects appeared before the Dambai Circuit Court on 17 September 2026, presided over by His Lordship Justice Dr. Moses Bedima Duut. They were remanded into police custody and are scheduled to reappear in court on 15 October 2026.
The truck has been impounded, and the seized parcels have been secured as evidence.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Oti Region, Deputy Superintendent of Police John Nchor, the command reiterated its commitment to tackling organized crime.
“The Oti Regional Police Command assures the public of its continued commitment to combating narcotics trafficking and organised crime and urges the public to provide credible information to assist the Police,” DSP Nchor stated.
Efforts are ongoing to locate the escaped suspect and identify others connected to the shipment.
