The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr Clement Apaak, has initiated urgent steps to rebuild the Kanjarga-Jiningsa footbridge, which collapsed following a heavy downpour on Friday.
In a statement released by his office, the lawmaker confirmed that consultations are already underway with the local assembly and technical experts to address the situation promptly.
“The MP has since engaged the Hon. District Chief Executive (DCE) for Builsa South and the District Engineers to urgently assess the situation and propose a lasting solution to this dire situation,” said Samson Samari, Aide to the MP.
The destruction of the footbridge has disrupted daily movement between the affected communities, prompting concerns over public safety and local transport.
Addressing these fears, the MP’s office assured traditional leaders and residents that the infrastructure would be restored without unnecessary delay.
“The Office of the MP wishes to assure the chiefs and people of Kanjarga-Jiningsa that the necessary resources will be made available to ensure that the bridge is reconstructed as soon as possible to restore movement and ensure safety,” the statement added.
Community members have been advised to remain cautious and rely on alternative bypasses while technical teams conduct their assessment and prepare for reconstruction.
