Dr Akwasi Opong-Fosu, an aspiring National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), says his extensive experience and proven track record in public service make him the right candidate to lead the party into a new era of growth and organisational strength.
Speaking on the Rainbow Radio Weekend Morning Show, Dr Opong-Fosu said his political journey, which began in 1992, had been defined by commitment, hard work and service to the NDC and the people of Ghana.
He said his decision to contest the National Chairmanship was not driven by personal ambition but by a desire to contribute to the rebuilding and strengthening of the party ahead of the NDC’s upcoming National Congress.
According to him, every position he has occupied throughout his political career has provided him with an opportunity to serve, deliver results and contribute to the development of the party and the country.
Dr Opong-Fosu pointed to his years of experience at the local government level, in the central government, in Parliament and in various ministerial positions as evidence of his capacity to lead the NDC.
“Everywhere I have been since I started my political journey in 1992, I have done good deeds,” he said, while highlighting his contribution to local government, Parliament, ministries and other public institutions.
Dr Opong-Fosu appealed to NDC delegates to carefully assess the experience, competence and integrity of all the aspirants before making their choice.
He urged delegates to consider the future of the party and elect a National Chairman capable of uniting members and preparing the NDC for future electoral contests.
