Police in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality of the Western Region have launched an investigation following a fatal hit-and-run incident at Wassa Agona that left an unidentified man dead.
The victim was struck by an unknown vehicle on the stretch between the Total Filling Station and the Ben Wise Workshop. Due to the lack of street lighting in the area, several other vehicles reportedly ran over the body before the incident was discovered.
Speaking in an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the Assembly Member for the area, Michael Danso Yeboah, described the incident as deeply unfortunate and tragic.
He explained that efforts to identify the deceased have so far proved unsuccessful, as no form of identification was recovered at the scene and the victim’s body was severely disfigured.
“We have done our best to locate relatives of the individual. It has become impossible to identify the man because of how disfigured the body has turned out. The body parts were scattered, but the police have retrieved all the parts and deposited them at the hospital,” Mr Danso Yeboah stated.
He added that the community and local authorities are appealing to members of the public who may have missing relatives to contact the police or visit the mortuary to help identify the body.
Police investigations into the incident remain ongoing as officers work to trace the driver responsible for the hit-and-run.
