Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) officials reportedly attempted to arrest Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah at the Accra High Court on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
Sources indicate the operation stemmed from allegations that the lawmaker ignored EOCO invitations regarding an investigation into the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account.
However, allies of the MP deny he ever received any formal summons, claiming the move was an effort to muzzle his public defense of Salomey Baffoe, an alleged accomplice linked to the account’s operator.
Footage from the scene shows an individual identifying herself as an EOCO agent instructing Awuah to accompany her for questioning. The MP refused and drove off in his SUV, with anti-crime officers in pursuit.
The precise legal basis for the confrontation remains ambiguous, and EOCO has not issued an official statement regarding the event.
