The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG), under the auspices of the Ghana Hajj Board, has issued a press release outlining mandatory medical screening requirements for all prospective pilgrims preparing for Hajj 2027.
According to the Secretariat, the national screening exercise is slated to commence officially on Saturday, 3rd October 2026, across designated regional centres. Officials emphasized that obtaining a clean bill of health remains a non-negotiable prerequisite for securing a Hajj visa and proceeding with travel arrangements.
In a statement released on 22nd September 2026, the Secretariat urged all intending pilgrims to take the process seriously. “Medical screening is a mandatory requirement for Hajj 2027 and serves as a prerequisite for the processing of Hajj visa. All prospective pilgrims are therefore required to undergo the screening and obtain the necessary medical clearance before proceeding with their Hajj preparations,” the Board stated.
The board confirmed that the medical screening fee has been fixed at GH¢650.00 per pilgrim. Prospective pilgrims are expected to present a valid travel passport along with their passport number at the time of their appointment. The board cautioned individuals to verify their passport details beforehand to avoid processing delays.
To maintain order and prevent overcrowding across screening sites, an appointment booking system has been instituted. Prospective pilgrims traveling through licensed Hajj travel agents must contact their respective agencies to schedule their slots. Meanwhile, direct-payment and protocol pilgrims are required to reach out directly to the Ghana Hajj Board Secretariat to secure their designated appointment dates.
The nationwide screening schedule spans several regions from October through November 2026. Activities begin in Tamale at the Ummah Medical Jisonayili from 3rd October to 15th November. Kumasi pilgrims will undergo screening at the Kumasi Central Mosque between 10th October and 15th November, while the Accra exercise will take place at the Hajj Village from 15th October to 15th November.
Other screening locations include Quality Medical Centre in Bawku from 20th to 22nd October, Bawku Presby Hospital on 23rd October, and Bolgatanga Regional Hospital from 24th to 25th October. Baptist Medical Centre in Nalerigu will operate on 27th and 28th October, followed by Yendi Municipal Hospital from 13th to 31st October, and Salaga Government Hospital on 2nd and 3rd November. The exercise concludes with sessions at the Wa Municipal Library from 6th to 12th November, and the NY Kramo Community Centre in Techiman on 15th and 16th November.
Speaking on behalf of the organizing authority, the Head of the Medical Department at the Hajj Board Secretariat urged full cooperation from the Muslim community. “All prospective pilgrims are urged to take the medical screening exercise seriously and complete the process within the stipulated period,” the statement added, while wishing all prospective pilgrims a smooth and successful preparation toward Hajj 2027.
