Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. James Gyakye Quayson, has held bilateral discussions with the Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in Ireland, His Excellency Dr Lahcen Mahraoui, as part of preparations towards reopening Ghana’s diplomatic mission in Dublin.
The high-level meeting took place on Wednesday, 23rd September 2026, during the Assin North MP’s official working visit to the Irish capital.
Dr Mahraoui, who also serves as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Ireland, received the Ghanaian delegation to exchange views on key regional issues, enhance bilateral ties, and foster closer cooperation within the broader diplomatic community.
A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted the strategic significance of the engagement, noting that the move underscores Ghana’s ongoing commitment to constructive dialogue, collaboration, and stronger diplomatic partnerships on the international stage.
The planned reopening of the embassy in Dublin is expected to boost diplomatic relations, trade opportunities, and consular services for Ghanaians living in Ireland.
