The Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has held consultative engagements with the leadership of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and major industrial captains to gather input ahead of the presentation of the 2027 National Budget Statement and Economic Policy.
Speaking during the stakeholder interaction, the Minister assured the business community of government’s commitment to protecting the nation’s macroeconomic stability while steering the economy towards long-term structural expansion.
Dr Forson urged private sector operators to step up domestic investments, promising that the administration would maintain current fiscal achievements and build a resilient environment for commerce.
“Feel free to invest because we will sustain the gains. The golden era for Ghana is beginning,” the Minister stated.
He revealed that the upcoming 2027 Budget will formally unveil government’s comprehensive economic transformation blueprint, shifting national focus from basic economic stabilization to full-scale industrial transformation.
A core pillar of the proposed strategy includes a $10 billion investment plan targeted at strategic economic sectors over the next four years. According to Dr Forson, the fund aims to accelerate local production, enhance value addition, expand export capacity, and generate sustainable jobs across key industries.
Addressing corporate concerns regarding access to capital, the Minister committed to implementing policy measures that will further drive down interest rates and borrowing costs for local enterprises. He, however, called on corporate entities to uphold their tax obligations to bolster domestic revenue mobilization and reduce government reliance on high-cost borrowing.
On his part, the President of the AGI, Dr Kofi Nsiah-Poku, commended government for restoring stability to the economy. He emphasized that the immediate priority for the private sector remains aggressive industrial growth, competitive local manufacturing, and rapid job creation.
