Construction on a new 120-bed Specialised Trauma and Emergency Hospital in Bole, situated within the Savannah Region, is officially underway following the mobilization of contractors to the site.
Government Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, revealed the development in a post shared on his official social media page, confirming that work has begun on the key health facility.
The multi-bed medical centre is expected to significantly boost health delivery, emergency care, and trauma management across the region once operational.
According to the details provided by the Minister, the comprehensive health facility will span a total footprint of 16,000 square metres and is custom-designed to address urgent medical situations, critical trauma cases, and surgical emergencies within the region and its surrounding environs.
Upon completion, the facility will feature a modern, fully-equipped 24-hour Accident and Emergency Unit alongside dedicated trauma resuscitation bays, specialised emergency operating theatres, an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and a High Dependency Unit (HDU).
The complex will further host specialised trauma wards, a dedicated burns treatment unit, along with dedicated orthopaedic and surgical units designed to expand access to high-level clinical interventions.
To ensure comprehensive diagnostic accuracy and swift treatment delivery, the hospital is also set to accommodate cutting-edge imaging and diagnostic facilities among other supporting medical infrastructure.
The project forms part of wider government efforts aimed at expanding access to specialised healthcare, enhancing emergency response capabilities, and reducing the need for emergency referrals outside the region.
