The Divine Economy Team has secured top honours at the Battleground Policy Pitch Competition, organised as part of the 2026 Liberty Sphere residential training programme in Accra.

The competition, held during the Liberty Sphere Dinner & Awards, challenged 29 participants split into five teams to apply principles of liberty, enterprise, and institutional reform to practical public policy challenges in Ghana.

The winning Divine Economy Team presented Freedom to Enterprise (F2E Ghana), a proposed 90-day pilot designed to streamline registration, compliance, and financial access for micro and youth-led businesses through National Microenterprise One-Stop Pathways.

The team earned a cash prize of GHS 3,000 for their initiative.

The Jonathan Gullible Team placed second with The Waste Exchange, a school-based recycling model that assigns monetary value to sorted waste, receiving GHS 2,000.

Third place went to the John Galt Team, awarded GHS 1,000 for their Informal Worker Pension Access Partnership (IWPAP), an initiative aimed at linking informal sector workers to voluntary Tier 3 pension schemes using mobile money.

Other competing proposals included the Cheetah Generation Group’s Teacher Representation Choice Framework (TRCF), advocating for union transparency and member consent, and the Adam Smith Team’s BDF Ghana Academy, a leadership development pipeline for emerging young professionals.

Pitches were evaluated by Ebenezer Tackie Oblie, Director of the Institute for New Policy Thinking. Proposals were judged on policy coherence, alignment with liberty principles, public policy understanding, identification of institutional gaps, and enterprise development strategy.

Individual recognitions were also presented at the event. Waris Maharaja received the Best Participant award, Gido Napogbong was named Catalyst for Change, Samiratu Mohammed took home the Best Orator award, and Simon Asaman was recognised as Best Fundraiser following a two-month participant-led fundraising effort to support the event.

All participating teams and award recipients will receive post-event mentorship from the YAFO Institute to refine their proposals into viable advocacy projects, research papers, and community interventions.
