President John Dramani Mahama has hosted the Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, H.E. Jeenbek Kulubayev, in Accra for high-level bilateral discussions aimed at strengthening multilateral relations, trade, and regional cooperation.
The standard-setting dialogue focused on strategic alignment ahead of key international developments, with Mahama set to assume the Chairmanship of the African Union (AU) in January next year, coinciding with Kyrgyzstan’s upcoming tenure as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council.
During the meeting, Mahama shared strategic insights on deepening collaboration between the AU and the UN to resolve ongoing conflict zones across the continent. He emphasized the effective implementation of UN Resolution 2719, calling for streamlined coordination to drive sustainable economic transformation and broaden development opportunities.
The engagement also covered critical bilateral affairs between both nations, reviewing the newly signed Visa Waiver Agreement, trade integration, investments, and expanding mutual interest in the mining sector.
Mahama extended appreciation to the Kyrgyz government for its support regarding the Ghana-led UN Resolution recognizing the historical trafficking of enslaved Africans as a grave crime against humanity.
On his part, Foreign Minister Kulubayev confirmed that the President of Kyrgyzstan, H.E. Sadyr Japarov, has accepted an invitation to attend Ghana’s milestone 70th Independence Anniversary celebrations next year.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, disclosed details of the diplomatic engagement in an official statement, underscoring the growing diplomatic ties between Ghana and Central Asia.
