The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) is moving to integrate fire safety education into the country’s basic school curriculum to build a culture of safety among young learners.
The initiative is being spearheaded in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES), the National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA), and Ulster University.
Under the leadership of Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sarpong, the programme aims to equip pupils with essential skills in fire prevention, hazard recognition, and emergency response from an early age.
Initially designed through a joint effort between the GNFS and Ulster University, the framework has been refined following stakeholder consultations with educational and safety experts, before its official submission to the Chief Fire Officer for consideration.
