President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Minister of Finance to allocate GH¢1 billion in the 2027 Budget as government’s contribution towards a GH¢3 billion revolving National Housing Fund.
Addressing delegates at the maiden National Conference on Housing Finance in Accra, President Mahama explained that the fund aims to support affordable housing projects while expanding access to housing finance for Ghanaians across the country.
Alongside the fund, the President announced the proposed Easy Rent programme. The scheme is designed to assist workers in accessing rent advances, which they can subsequently repay on a monthly installment basis.
President Mahama further stressed the need for innovative financing solutions to tackle the widespread issue of uncompleted residential properties throughout the nation.
Underlining his administration’s vision for the sector, he emphasised the fundamental necessity of accessible shelter for every citizen.
“Every family deserves the security of a decent home. That ambition must guide our policies, shape our investments, and drive our work,” President Mahama stated.
