The Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has visited renowned fashion personality Nana Akua Addo and her children following widespread reports of alleged domestic abuse within the family.
During her interaction with the family, the Sector Minister extended government solidarity and pledged immediate assistance to help them navigate the ongoing situation.
Dr Lartey emphasised the imperative of safeguarding the wellbeing of the household, particularly the children, insisting that young minds must be insulated from adult conflicts.
“The focus must remain on the wellbeing and protection of Nana Akua and the children, with appropriate measures taken to prevent further emotional distress,” the Minister stated, adding that the children “should not be made to bear the burden of conflicts or violence involving adults.”
To ensure comprehensive welfare interventions, the Ministry has deployed resources to provide necessary psychosocial and social welfare support aimed at safeguarding the family’s emotional stability and dignity.
Addressing the ongoing investigations by the Ghana Police Service, Dr Lartey assured that due process would be followed while prioritizing the victims’ safety.
She further noted that the Ministry intends to engage Nana Akua’s husband—who was unavailable during the official visit—while extending support services to all affected parties as state agencies work to bring resolution to the matter.
