President John Dramani Mahama reaffirmed his commitment to inclusive governance while calling on religious and family institutions to actively guide the younger generation during his address at the 10th World Assemblies of God Congress at the Accra International Conference Centre on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.

Grounding his approach to leadership in his Christian faith, the President emphasized that his duty encompasses all citizens regardless of their religious affiliation, noting that prayers for political leaders reinforce a duty to govern conscientiously and improve lives.

“The prayers offered for leaders impose on us a solemn obligation to serve conscientiously. I am deeply touched by my membership of the World Assemblies of God Fellowship. And I dedicate myself to serve with humility. And to remain mindful that the most enduring measure of leadership is the difference that it makes in the lives of people,” President Mahama stated, adding, “Whatever distinction may be associated with my journey in public service, its meaning must be expressed through service. My Christian faith is a source of strength and reflection. As President, I have sworn a duty to serve every Ghanaian, Christians of every denomination, Muslims, adherents of traditional religion and even our citizens who profess no faith.”

Turning his focus to the theme “Commissioned: One Mandate, Every Nation,” President Mahama drew on his personal experience as a father to highlight the unique anxieties, social pressures, misinformation, and constant digital comparisons confronting today’s youth. He urged churches and households to cultivate supportive environments where young people can explore their purpose, ask questions without hesitation, and assume meaningful responsibilities to secure the future of both the nation and the fellowship.

“Our young people are growing up in a world that is completely different from the world we grew in. Their world offers extraordinary possibilities, but it also brings on them intense pressures,” he observed, urging adults to take an active role in shaping youth development. “Let us be mentors who listen, offer opportunities to serve, and set examples of integrity that these young people can follow.”
