Preliminary investigations by the police established that Kwofie is married to the 25-year-old victim, Diana Mensah, a second-hand clothing trader. The couple resides together at Domeabra within the Agona Nkwanta Municipality.

According to the police, the incident occurred on Thursday, 8 October 2026, when Kwofie accused his wife of having an extramarital affair and subjected her to a severe beating, which was captured in the viral footage.

The victim was rescued by a bystander and rushed to the Agona Nkwanta Polyclinic, where she received medical treatment and was subsequently discharged.

Confirming the arrest in an official statement, the Head of the Public Affairs Unit for the Western Regional Police Command, Chief Superintendent Olivia ET Adiku, stated that the suspect remains in police custody and will be processed for court.
