A Deputy National Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Ako Gunn, has officially declared his intention to contest for the party’s National Communication Officer position.
In a statement outlining his vision, Mr Gunn expressed deep gratitude to the party leadership and reflected on his over three decades of dedicated service to the opposition party across various levels.
Highlighting the achievements of the current communication machinery, he lauded the outgoing National Communication Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, alongside his colleagues for transforming the party’s public messaging through innovative strategies.
“The Sammy Gyamfi-led Communication Team will arguably be mentioned as amongst the best we have ever had as a party. Bold changes like panel placements and press conferences at live locations were considerably improved. It didn’t come easy. We were fought, chased, cursed and attacked, but at the end of the day, the fruits are there for all to see,” he stated.
Reflecting on his journey within the party, Mr Gunn noted that his vast political experience makes him the ideal candidate to steer the party’s communications into its next phase. He previously served as a Branch Executive for twelve years, a member of the Greater Accra Communication Committee for eight years, and a Deputy National Communication Officer for eight years, alongside other key roles.
“With love, commitment, sacrifice and dedication, I have served the NDC for over 30 years. This rich experience is what I bring to the table. I have served with all my heart and my abilities, and I commit myself to serve the present age and the young upcoming ones,” he added.
Outlining his strategic agenda, Mr Gunn promised to decentralise communication training across the party structure, ensuring that local executives are adequately equipped to defend and project the party’s record.
“Our next phase must see all our Branch and Constituency Executives being trained in the art and science of communication, so that together we can ensure the effective projection of the achievements of the NDC government. No one anywhere can tell the story better than you,” he emphasised.
He expressed appreciation to former NDC National Chairman Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, current National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia, his colleagues on the National Executive Committee, as well as his family and supporters who sustained his political career over the years.
Pledging to deliver a fearless and dedicated leadership if elected, Mr Gunn assured party faithful of his unwavering commitment to the party’s success.
“As your National Communication Officer, I promise to serve you well: with humility, with passion, and a fearless voice,” he affirmed.
