The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Sports Committee, Vincent Ekow Assafuah, has revealed that official petitions have been submitted to key state anti-graft and investigative bodies over the ongoing visa fraud scandal.
According to him, the petitions have been lodged with the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), and the Presidency to ensure a thorough probe into the matter.
Speaking on the development, the lawmaker called on the President to step in and exercise the powers vested in him under the 1992 Constitution to hold those responsible to account.
Mr Assafuah emphasized that administrative actions alone, such as reassignments or dismissals, are inadequate given the gravity of the allegations.
He stressed that where there is evidence of criminal conduct, the full rigours of the law must be applied.
He urged the relevant authorities to act swiftly on the petitions, ensuring transparency and justice for the nation.
