The Ghana Education Service (GES) has approved Friday, 30th October, 2026, as a National Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Day for private school teachers across the country.
The decision follows a joint appeal put forward by the Ghana National Council of Private Schools (GNACOPS) and the Ghana National Association of Private Schools (GNAPS). Under the arrangement, the designated day will be observed as a holiday for learners.
According to a circular issued by the GES headquarters in Accra and signed by Prof. Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), the Deputy Director-General (MS), on behalf of the Director-General, this year’s programme will focus on teacher wellness.
The training session will be held under the theme: “Mental Health and Psychosocial Well-being of Teachers.”
The GES noted that the capacity-building programme is carefully designed “to equip teachers with practical strategies to promote their mental health and well-being, enhance their resilience, and foster a supportive school environment.”
In view of this directive, Regional Directors have been instructed to officially notify all Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education within their respective jurisdictions to guarantee proper coordination.
Furthermore, local education directors are expected to collaborate closely with District Training Officers to effectively organise, coordinate, and monitor active participation across all private educational institutions in their various districts.
