Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama has tasked four newly appointed ambassadors to prioritise trade expansion, foreign direct investment, and job creation as key pillars of his administration’s Reset Agenda.

Administering the oath of office at the Jubilee House on Friday, 16 October 2026, the President directed the diplomatic envoys to align the operations of Ghana’s foreign missions with the nation’s pressing economic and developmental needs.

The newly commissioned diplomats comprise Nana Antwiwaa Dodoo, Envoy to Angola; Louis Kwame Obeng, Envoy to Qatar; Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable, Envoy to Israel; and Jedidiah Reuben Adogla, Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Switzerland.

President Mahama indicated that Ghana’s diplomatic outposts must actively identify strategic investors, facilitate international market access for domestic enterprises, and forge collaborative links to foster technological transfer, skill acquisition, and research.

“Our missions play an important role in identifying investors whose interests align with Ghana’s development priorities, helping Ghanaian businesses enter new markets abroad, and building relationships with institutions that can support skills development, research, and technology transfer,” he said.

He stressed that the ultimate measure of the country’s economic diplomacy lies in tangible job creation and commercial opportunities forged through bilateral partnerships.

The President urged the envoys to push for value addition to Ghana’s primary raw materials by attracting productive industrial investments. He further tasked them to enhance consular efficiency and safeguard the welfare of Ghanaian diaspora communities.

Addressing broader geopolitical strategy, President Mahama referenced Ghana’s formal application to partner with the BRICS bloc, explaining that the move seeks to diversify international development ties and deepen South-South cooperation. He assured that closer collaboration with BRICS nations would unlock fresh avenues for trade, industrialisation, and investment without compromising relationships with traditional global allies.

Touching on foreign policy regarding the Middle East, the President instructed Ambassador Evelyn Korantemaa Ofosu-Amable to maintain Ghana’s principled stance on Palestine.

“We recognise the sovereign State of Palestine and support a viable two-state solution in which Israel and Palestine will live side by side in peace and security within internationally recognised and secure borders,” he said.

He emphasised that Ghana’s foreign relations must remain anchored in international law, civilian protection, and human dignity.

Concluding his address, President Mahama counselled the diplomats to adhere strictly to government policies, manage state resources prudently, and collaborate closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He reminded them that Article 40 of the 1992 Constitution remains the fundamental standard guiding their mandate to defend and advance Ghana’s national interests abroad.
