The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, has formally responded to concerns raised by the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Marketing and Special Duties regarding access to her office for urgent official consultations and decision-making.
In a letter dated 24 October 2026 and addressed to the Chairperson of the Authority’s Board of Directors, the CEO acknowledged receiving earlier correspondence dated 22 October 2026 concerning operational delays raised by her deputy. She noted that effective communication and timely decision-making remain vital to ensuring the smooth running of the institution’s executive duties.
“I appreciate him bringing this matter to my attention and recognizing the importance of effective communication, timely decision-making, and close coordination among the Authority’s executive management to ensure the efficient discharge of our respective responsibilities,” she stated.
Addressing the concerns over accessibility, the CEO highlighted that her office maintains an open-door policy, particularly for executive and senior management officers. While expressing surprise and disappointment that the letter did not reflect the true state of her availability, she emphasised the need for professionalism, mutual respect, and accountability in advancing Ghana’s tourism sector. She acknowledged that key areas under the deputy’s domain require prompt attention to avoid administrative bottlenecks that could affect operational, financial, or strategic decisions.
To strengthen internal communication and prevent future gaps, Maame Efua Houadjeto outlined a series of practical arrangements. These include establishing scheduled regular meetings between the Chief Executive Officer and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer to review departmental priorities, ongoing assignments, and operational challenges. She also proposed a clear procedure for flagging and escalating urgent matters requiring immediate executive direction whenever scheduled meetings are not feasible.
Further proposals focus on coordinating meeting requests through the Executive Office based on urgency, clarifying delegated responsibilities, and encouraging constructive engagement across the broader executive management team. The CEO emphasised that these measures are intended to build a more responsive and results-oriented institution rather than simply addressing individual concerns.
She assured the Board Chairperson and the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts of management’s continued commitment to high standards of professionalism and institutional discipline. Reaffirming her appreciation for the deputy’s contributions, she noted that schedule differences should not hinder collective performance, proposing an immediate meeting to agree on implementing the new arrangements.
The correspondence was copied to the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, the Chief Director of MOTCCA, and the Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Marketing and Special Duties.
