The Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD), Mr Sam Jerome, has cautioned aspirants contesting positions in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) against internal sabotage and smear campaigns.
Speaking on the nature of internal politics, Mr Jerome stressed that mudslinging and personal attacks on campaign trails inflict severe emotional harm on fellow party members and risk triggering dangerous repercussions for the political organization.
He reminded candidates that party elections should aim to fortify and elevate the NDC, rather than serve as a stepping stone for personal advancement. He warned those running with the sole expectation of securing future political appointments to manage their ambitions, noting that such motives often end in frustration and disappointment.
Addressing the electorate, the COCOBOD spokesperson implored delegates to base their votes strictly on competence, demonstrated leadership, and a genuine commitment to party service.
Mr Jerome also expressed strong disapproval over vote-buying, warning delegates that trading their ballots for money is a short-sighted choice that invariably brings regret.
He charged them to resist financial inducements and prioritize the party’s long-term strength by electing credible, capable leaders.
