Mounting friction has gripped the National Democratic Congress (NDC) branch in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency, Ashanti Region, following claims that the delegates’ register has been tampered with to tilt the upcoming constituency executive polls.
Discontented party members allege that compile officials systematically purged legitimate voters from the roll, substituting them with ineligible individuals to secure an unfair advantage for specific aspirants.
Venting their fury over the alleged electoral fraud, a faction of the aggrieved delegates resorted to traditional spiritual recourse. Eyewitnesses confirmed that the group slaughtered sheep, poured libation, and summoned the revered Antoa Nyamaa alongside other river deities, cursing anyone implicated in the scheme who fails to rectify the register.
Addressing journalists in the constituency, a spokesperson for the group condemned the alleged foul play, vowing that dedicated party faithful would not sit idly by while their long-standing sacrifices were sabotaged.
“We have laboured tirelessly for the party and will not tolerate any attempt to disenfranchise us. May Antoa deal decisively with anyone involved in falsifying this album,” the delegate stated.
The disgruntled members warned that leaving the compromised register uncorrected will destroy the credibility of the internal vote and trigger severe factional rift.
Consequently, they have appealed to the regional and national executive committees of the party to halt proceedings, initiate an immediate audit of the register, and restore all legitimate delegates to the roll. They stressed that guaranteeing an impartial, transparent process is vital to preserving unity within the constituency ahead of the general election.
Attempts to reach the Atwima Kwanwoma NDC constituency executives for official comment prior to publication proved unsuccessful. The allegations remain unverified, and no specific individuals have yet been formally named in connection with the claims.
