Deputy Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, has commended renowned Ghanaian gospel musician Jack Alolome for resisting racial discrimination aboard an international flight.

Reacting to a video recording by the musician on the aircraft, Dr Apaak praised the artiste for standing his ground when individuals tried to prevent him from boarding the flight because of his skin colour.

The lawmaker described the incident as a sobering experience that underscores the need to resist unfair treatment anywhere in the world.

“What a sobering and incredible experience by our compatriot, the renowned Ghanaian gospel musician, Jack Alolome. I commend him highly for standing up against the racists who sought to get him off the airplane simply because he is a black man. He stood his ground and refused to yield to any form of pressure or persuasion not to board the flight, as desired by the racists,” Dr Apaak stated.

According to the MP, the musician avoided being thrown off the plane by citing former President John Dramani Mahama and threatening legal action against the airline.

“I appreciate him for smartly invoking the name and global reputation of H.E. JDM. As he narrated in the video clip he recorded on the plane—on which he was the only passenger—but for invoking the name of H.E. JDM and following up with a threat to sue the airline, he would have been dropped from the flight,” he said.

Dr Apaak noted that the event offers valuable lessons on standing up to bigotry and the impact of national leadership on global respect.

“We can all draw inspiration from his brave stand. First, never yield to racists and bullies. Second, it helps to be a citizen of a country whose President stands tall in the community of nations,” Dr Apaak added.
