President John Dramani Mahama has made a strong appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin to work towards an immediate, peaceful end to the conflict with Ukraine.
Speaking at the plenary session of the Third Russia-Africa Summit on Thursday, October 29, the President warned that persistent global conflicts continue to claim lives, cause severe human suffering, and dismantle vital global logistics networks and supply chains.
President Mahama highlighted the broader economic impact of the hostilities, noting that disruptions to international value chains demonstrate why coordinated global action is urgently required to reinstate lasting stability.
During his address, the Ghanaian leader welcomed signs of progress from Moscow, praising President Putin’s willingness to re-engage in diplomatic discussions to reach an agreement that protects both nations.
“We appreciate your willingness to resume trilateral talks in respect of the conflict with Ukraine and your call for a lasting peace agreement and security for both Russia and Ukraine,” President Mahama stated.
Turning to regional security issues, the President highlighted the urgent need for international solidarity against violent extremism, specifically calling for joint action across the Alliance of Sahelian States, where persistent instability remains a major threat to regional safety.
President Mahama concluded by reiterating his call for peaceful resolutions to all global disputes, emphasizing that long-term security depends entirely on constructive diplomacy and international cooperation.
