The Ghana Education Service (GES) has launched an urgent investigation into a disturbing video showing a violent incident involving teachers and a student at Techiman Senior High Technical School (SHTS).
The directive follows instructions from the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, who instructed the Ministry to immediately refer the matter to the Director-General of the GES to ensure proper action is taken.
In a statement confirming the development, the Deputy Minister for Education, Dr Clement Abas Apaak, revealed that the Director-General has been instructed to apply necessary sanctions to any individuals found culpable.
“The Director-General has further been directed to apply the necessary sanctions to the offending parties. Misconduct will not be tolerated in our schools from any stakeholder, be it teaching and non-teaching staff, students or parents,” Dr Apaak stated.
The Ministry emphasized its commitment to protecting all individuals within the academic environment, assuring the public that strict standards will be upheld across the country’s educational institutions.
“We have a mandate to ensure that our schools remain safe for all — students, teaching and non-teaching staff — at all times,” the Deputy Minister added.
The Ministry is expected to provide further updates once the GES concludes its investigation into the incident.
