The Government of Ghana has expressed deep gratitude to New York City Mayor Eric Adams and US President Donald Trump following a breakthrough in securing travel clearance for the mother of the late Javits Frimpong.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa confirmed that the state will fully cover all travel expenses for Madam Doris Adu Gyamfi, enabling her to travel to the United States to lay her late son to rest.
Mr Ablakwa disclosed that he personally reached out to Madam Adu Gyamfi to offer support during this challenging period, while instructing Foreign Affairs officials to facilitate her visa application without delay.
“The Government of Ghana welcomes your intervention and President Trump’s timely decision. We have always known we can count on our own Kwame Mamdani,” the Foreign Affairs Minister stated.
Describing the grief of the bereaved mother as overwhelming, Mr Ablakwa emphasised that every necessary measure must be pursued to ensure she is granted the opportunity to bid her son a final farewell.
“Madam Doris Adu Gyamfi’s pain as a loving mother is unimaginable and indeed everything must be done to ensure she is present to pay her respects,” he added.
He further assured that the Mahama administration remains fully prepared to support the family with the funeral arrangements and will maintain close cooperation with international partners to ensure full accountability in the case.
“The Mahama Administration will take care of the full cost of Madam Adu Gyamfi’s travels and also stands ready to contribute towards a dignifying funeral. We resolve to continue to work together in securing justice for Javits,” Mr Ablakwa noted.
