Newly inducted allied health professionals across the country have been urged to strategically position themselves to capitalise on emerging opportunities as government expands access to primary healthcare services.

The Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, made the call during the Allied Health Professions Council’s 2026 Induction and Oath-Swearing Ceremony, held at the Great Hall of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi on Thursday, 22 October 2026.

Addressing the gathering, Dr Amoakohene underscored the essential role allied health practitioners play in extending vital health services directly to local communities. He explained that ongoing efforts to fortify primary healthcare will place heavy emphasis on health promotion, disease diagnosis, public health education, and basic clinical intervention.

According to the Minister, these expanding initiatives will open new avenues for professionals to apply their specialised training meaningfully, citing physiotherapy as a prime example of a discipline expected to see increased demand within community-based care models. He encouraged the inductees, particularly those preparing to commence their mandatory internships, to proactively identify service gaps where their skills can be deployed to enhance patient care.

The ceremony featured the official administration of the professional oath, marking a significant milestone for the graduates as they enter full professional practice. The oath reinforced their dedication to maintaining high ethical standards, operational competence, and patient welfare throughout their careers.

The Allied Health Professions Council commended the new inductees for reaching this career benchmark, encouraging them to pursue continuous professional development while upholding quality service delivery in Ghana’s healthcare sector.
