The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has projected to generate $1.2 billion in foreign exchange from its artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) gold trade operations in November 2026.
Out of the projected revenue, the institution plans to release $800 million to commercial banks to bolster foreign exchange market stability across the country.
This announcement follows a successful performance in October 2026, during which GoldBod generated $1.011 billion in foreign exchange under its statutory mandate.
“The full amount of foreign exchange generated – US$1.011 billion was sold to authorized commercial banks on the GoldBod GoFX platform to support FX market stability in the month of October,” the statement signed by the Finance and Trade Directorate read.
GoldBod emphasized that all upcoming currency transactions will be carried out transparently and strictly in line with regulatory guidelines.
“FX sales will be conducted on the GoldBod GoFX platform in line with the approved FX Sales and Intermediation Framework to ensure transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance,” the release stated.
The board reaffirmed its commitment to supporting national economic initiatives and assisting the central bank in building up Ghana’s foreign reserves.
“The GoldBod remains committed to its statutory mandate to generate foreign exchange for the country and will continue to support foreign reserve accumulation by the Bank of Ghana, in accordance with the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Policy (GANRAP),” the statement added.
