The Ministry for the Interior has imposed a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Hamile Township and its surrounding communities in the Lambussie District of the Upper West Region with immediate effect.
The decision, taken on the advice of the National Security Council and enacted by Executive Instrument, restricts movement daily between 6:00 pm and 5:00 am.
In an official statement released on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the government called for calm and urged local stakeholders to resolve ongoing disputes peacefully.
“Government urges Chiefs, Opinion Leaders, Youth and People of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them and to use non-violent means to channel their grievances into ensuring peace in the area,” the statement read.
Alongside the curfew, security measures have been tightened, with a complete ban placed on the possession of weapons across the affected communities.
“Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in Hamile Township and its environs in Lambussie District of the Upper West from carrying arms, ammunition, or any offensive weapons,” the Ministry emphasized, warning that “any person found with any arms or ammunition will be arrested and prosecuted”.
