The Second Vice Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, has launched a fresh attack on Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, accusing him of failing in his duties and allowing scandals to bedevil the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The lawyer and politician stated that Mr Ablakwa is acting like a thief shouting at another thief.
According to him, the Minister constantly accuses others of corruption, yet he lacks clean hands himself.
Nana B maintained that Mr Ablakwa has supervised severe irregularities concerning official passports.
It will be recalled that in October 2026, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, petitioned the U.S. Embassy in Ghana to tighten scrutiny on Ghanaian official passports.
rollout came after the NPP alleged that Ministry approval letters issued in August 2026 granted service passports to six individuals linked to non-existent or fraudulent positions at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and the Fisheries Commission.
The NPP subsequently demanded the suspension of unqualified service passports, the publication of all issuance records since January 2025, an Auditor-General audit, and the immediate removal of Mr Ablakwa—a controversy that sparked youth-led demonstrations in November 2026.
Addressing journalists at the party’s headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, 4 November 2026, Nana B argued that as someone who demands equity from others, Mr Ablakwa should have demonstrated the highest form of credibility in discharging his duties as Minister.
He noted that while the South African evacuation scandal remains unresolved, another scandal involving the alleged sale of diplomatic passports to unqualified persons has emerged, requiring immediate action from the President.
He also commended the Youth Wing of the NPP for organising the ‘Yege Ye Sika’ demonstration against alleged corruption at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“I must first commend the Youth Wing of the NPP for the demonstration against the thievery, corruption, and scandals he has allowed to go on at the Foreign Affairs Ministry. Okudzeto Ablakwa is a Kejetia or Makola ‘kronfuo’; he is always screaming and calling others thieves. However, he appears to be the supposed thief. He is always coming at others when he is not clean. That is his nature,” Nana B stated.
