Republican candidate Byron Donalds has secured a historic election victory in Florida, becoming the first Black governor elected in the history of the Sunshine State.
The victory came after a closely contested race against Democratic candidate David Jolly to succeed term-limited Governor Ron DeSantis.
Delivering his victory message following the results, Donalds expressed gratitude to the electorate and outlined his key priorities for the state.
“Thank you, Florida! I am humbled and grateful beyond measure. As your Governor, I will give you everything I have,” he declared.
Focusing on economic relief, public safety, and opportunities for youth, Donalds promised to lead Florida into a prosperous future.
“We are going to make life in Florida more affordable. We are going to keep our streets safe. We are going to invest in our young people so that they can attain the Florida Dream that all of us love so dearly,” Donalds added.
