Former US President Bill Clinton has congratulated Democratic candidates following their victories across the United States in the 2026 midterm elections, describing the outcome as a clear mandate from the electorate.
In an official statement released on Wednesday, November 4, Clinton commended party workers and standard-bearers, noting that the newly elected candidates represent both the diversity of the nation and the structural resilience of the Democratic Party.
Addressing the political atmosphere, the former president emphasized that voters have signaled a desire for stability, urging elected leaders to prioritize public interest over systemic political turmoil.
“The American people have given us clear direction: to put their needs ahead of the chaos and corruption coming out of Washington,” Clinton stated.
Outlining key governance priorities, he stressed the urgent need to address domestic economic pressures, defend public healthcare, curb inflationary tariffs, end senseless conflicts, and manage the nation’s burgeoning national debt. He further noted that public officials must remain strictly accountable to the electorate.
Clinton urged party members to approach their electoral mandate with restraint and an inclusive political outlook.
“Last night’s victory gives us an opportunity and a responsibility to rebuild trust. We should do so with humility and determination, and an open hand, not a clenched fist, to those who didn’t vote for our candidates,” he remarked.
Reaffirming his commitment to bipartisan cooperation, Clinton concluded by encouraging the party to maximize the governance opportunity presented by the voters.
“I’ve always believed we do better when we work together. Now, the American people have given us another chance to prove it. Let’s make the most of it,” he added.
