Former President John Dramani Mahama has opined that defeat is staring the governing New Patriotic Party in the face, and the only way out of this is to rig the 2024 general elections.
He has therefore called on members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to remain vigilant and be ready to serve as polling agents.
He said the NDC has an election to win, and they can only win it if they are united and, most importantly, vigilant.
”NPP knows it. The only way they have out of this election defeat they are about to face is to rig the election. And for them, the least opportunity they get, they take advantage of it. And so please, compliance is going to be very important.”
He said the NDC must know that some electoral officers at the electoral commission are outstanding; however, many other electoral officers will take money and try to skew the election for one candidate or another.
”The only way we can deal with this is to be vigilant,” he stressed.
He said this while on his “Building the Ghana We Want Tour” in Dzodze, Volta Region.
He expressed optimism that he would win the 2024 election, eliminating the need to contest the results at the Supreme Court.
“I’m not going to the Supreme Court because I know I’m not going to lose, maybe that person will be going to the Supreme Court. The election is going to be decided at the polling station and the coalition centre and that’s where the NDC is going to be.
“We won’t go to the Supreme Court again because we know we won’t get justice. We are going to police this election and it is going to be the best policed election in the history of Ghana and we are going to follow the results every step of the way until the final result is declared.”
