Sekou Nkrumah, a political activist and the last son of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, has urged African leaders to continue pushing the Pan-Africanism agenda.
He believes that the concept of Pan-Africanism is one of the approaches that may have united the continent and led to more prosperity than we see today.
He pointed out that if we want the continent to progress, we must conceive in terms of Pan-Africanism.
He claimed that whites have continually impacted Africa and damaged the Pan-African movement due to their interest in our natural resources.
Their main agenda, he emphasised, has been to divide Africans in order for them to exploit our natural resources.
According to the writer and activist, his late father was one of those who led the Pan-African dream, and because of that, he was hated and overthrown since his efforts were seen as a threat.
He said the foreigners distorted the pan-African dream, and as a new generation of Africans, we have to therefore reorganise and redefine it so we can make the continent progress.
“The whole concept of pan-Africanism was first decolonization and then continental union.He said if we want to make the continent more competitive, then we have to take the steps to redefining ourselves, unite, and work in a collective manner,” he said.
