The Minority in Parliament has taken a swipe at President Akufo-Addo for failing to account to the Ghanaian people the current state of the National Cathedral Project.
Responding to the State of Nation Address delivered by President Akufo-Addo on January 3, 2025, the caucus expressed shock that he (Nana Addo) failed to say anything about the project.
Deputy Minority Leader Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah wondered why a man who promised to build a cathedral for God failed to deliver an account about the project.
He said the president left out a very important account of his promise to build him a cathedral, but “Mr. President, I will leave that between you and your God.”
He also opined that the true state of the nation was reflected in the 2024 federal elections.
He asserted that the outcome of the elections and the massive defeat chalked by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) affirmed that Ghana was facing a serious economic crisis and that the performance of the outgoing Akufo-Addo was incompetent and messed up the economy.
He thanked the President for delivering the message but reminded him that the people of Ghana have already given their verdict, and that verdict was very clear, including economic hardship, hopelessness, high debt, and having come to the end of the road for what is undoubtedly the worst government in the history of the Fourth Republic.
To him, the President’s tome of governance will be remembered as one that worsened the living conditions and how not to govern a country.
He was, however, quick to add that hope is on its way in the person of President-elect John Dramani Mahama.
He said Ghanaians under President-elect Mahama will work together to lift ourselves from this historic low and reclaim our place as the Black star of Africa once again.
