Military protection for public officials, former appointees, and other civilians withdrawn

Defence Minister Dr Omane Boamah has announced that military protection for civilians (including public officials, former ministers, businessmen, and women, among others) who are not entitled to it has been withdrawn.

The minister, in a statement, disclosed that the decision was taken by the Armed Forces Council.

Dr Boamah stated that the move forms part of the resetting agenda by the current government to restore discipline and accountability.

“This decision aims to STOP the misuse of military personnel for personal gain.

Therefore, military personnel found providing unauthorized guard duties; and any other unauthorized duties will face far-reaching consequences.”

As part of our #Reset agenda to restore discipline and accountability, we’ve withdrawn military protection for civilians (including public officials, former ministers, businessmen, and women, among others) who are not entitled to it.

This decision aims to STOP the misuse of military personnel for personal gain.

Therefore, military personnel found providing unauthorized guard duties; and any other unauthorized duties will face far-reaching consequences.
